Cyberleek’s Ultimatum: Put GTA 6 on Disc, or the Whole Game Leaks

By Ned · · 2 min read

GTA 6: Cyberleek’s ultimatum, explained.

GTA 6’s most famous leaker just made a demand. Put the game on a disc and say sorry, or the whole game leaks before launch.

What Cyberleek is demanding

Cyberleek is threatening to release a playable GTA 6 build from start to finish, Dexerto reported. According to Notebookcheck and eTeknix, Take-Two has one way out: release GTA 6 on physical discs and issue a public apology.

The trigger is crypto again. The leaker says the build drops once their coin hits a $30 million market cap.

Why discs?

Cyberleek has pushed against digital-only games since August, when the group demanded an end to digital pre-orders, Kotaku reported. GTA 6’s physical edition is a download code in a box, not a disc, as VGC confirmed. It’s the same fight as Sony ending PlayStation discs in 2028.

Is the threat real?

Unconfirmed. Nobody has verified that Cyberleek has a complete build, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has responded, eTeknix noted. The story is messy too: Forbes reported on October 8 that Cyberleek said it was done with crypto asks.

Take-Two isn’t sitting still. It has already subpoenaed Microsoft and Discord to try to unmask the leaker, according to GameSpot’s leak timeline.

How we got here

  1. AugFirst clips, plus a demand to end digital pre-orders
  2. Aug 26Rockstar calls the leaks “heartbreaking”
  3. Oct 8The 25-minute “Extended Leek” drops
  4. NowUltimatum: discs and an apology, or a full leak
  5. Nov 19GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Don’t download a “full build”

Fake “Cyberleek full build” downloads are already popping up, TweakTown reported, and an earlier 113GB “build” turned out to be fake. If you see one, skip it. Best case it’s fake, worst case it’s malware.

My take

I’m not touching any of it. Rockstar isn’t going to print discs six weeks before launch because of a threat.

Feels more like a crypto pump than a protest to me. I’d rather wait for November 19 and play it clean.

Not at launch. Rockstar has confirmed the physical edition is a box with a download code inside. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has responded to the ultimatum.
